DeVry University Project Management Programs
DeVry University, founded in Illinois in the 1930s, is a private, for-profit university that specializes in distance education for working adults, especially in technical or vocational fields. DeVry offers a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Project Management that can prepare students to manage a team of contractors on a construction project of any size.
Hundreds of thousands of students have graduated from DeVry University since its inception, and the school boasts almost 100,000 current students and nearly 100 campuses throughout the North and South America. Though it does offer many courses at its campuses, DeVry also specializes in distance education delivered via the internet. Their course catalog features online programs in everything from nursing to business and the arts.
DeVry is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, and some of the university’s vocational programs are accredited by industry-specific accreditors. The university offers associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in a range of subjects, though not all subjects have a degree at each level.
Devry’s project management program consists of 8 semesters, or 124 credit hours of courses, though some students may be able to replace these courses with previously earned credits from another school. The degree curriculum requires courses in quality management, contracts and procurement, human resources, and communication.
The project management degree is geared toward students who want administrative or managerial positions in business and finance. Project management requires an individual to be able to keep track of details and delegate responsibility efficiently. Project managers have to keep a lot of balls in the air. To that end, DeVry’s project management degree program incorporates management courses both at the micro-level of accounting and supply acquisition, and the macro level of staffing and organizational growth.
